Over the years, Matt has offered and performed legal services for free or deeply discounted and extended special rates to my contacts as well have offered payment plans in an effort to offer flexibility and support for each unique situation.
While we have been grateful for everyone who has placed their trust in us and value supportting many friends and family as clients, this practice also undervalues the true cost of running a law firm, his time, education, effort, skill, and professionalism he brings to each case.
Unfortunately, we’ve found that these concessions have not always been met with the level of appreciation and respect for the investment/cost, time, expertise and dedication his work requires and has created situations where his good will and charity are expected vs appreciated or valued, leading to gross misunderstanding’s and apparent hostility with some.
Moving forward, his rates will reflect the true cost and value of the professional and legal advocacy services he and his staff provide.
His rates are not increasing, but we simply cannot continue discounting rates by 50-75% or not charging for cases as he still has to pay travel costs (fuel, time invested, parking fees), filing fees, staff, offices, supplies, licensing & professional fees etc.
