Today, two individuals were detained by ICE officials in Salina, Kansas. ICE Wichita was looking for someone and stopped two men during their search. ICE arrested and transported the two men to Wichita, KS. They are currently detained at an ICE detention facility with no bond. Both men have no criminal record or prior removals. During the arrest, the detainee’s family rushed to the scene and spoke with ICE. ICE told the family that he would be eligible for a bond due to the lack of criminal history or prior removals. However, this was incorrect. ICE even confirmed that there was no criminal record or prior removals directly to our office. ICE transferred the individuals to Chase County Detention Center. Due to client confidentiality, additional information cannot be provided. Please keep the families and the detainees in your prayers.

If local law enforcement needs additional information regarding any type of arrests within their jurisdiction, they can call ICE ERO Wichita at 316-293-2430.

Meet Nubia Estefes (she/her/ella), Executive Director of KSMODA

Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, Nubia was brought to the U.S. at the age of three and spent much of her life navigating the challenges of being undocumented. At 18, she was able to adjust her status—a transformative experience that has fueled her passion for advocacy. Now, as the Executive Director of KSMODA, a community-led organization, Nubia fights for immigrant rights and empowerment through education, advocacy, and community action.

Under her leadership, KSMODA helps immigrants stay informed of their rights and pursue their version of the American dream, ensuring their voices are heard and their futures are protected. Beyond her impactful work, Nubia is preparing to take her advocacy to the next level, with plans to start law school in the fall of 2025.

We’re thrilled to have Nubia on the show to share her story, her work with KSMODA, and her vision for creating meaningful change in the immigrant community.
