If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor destination in the Upstate of South Carolina, then South Cove County Park in Seneca is definitely worth visiting. Located on the shores of Lake Keowee, South Cove is a 48-acre county park that offers camping, boating, fishing, swimming, sports courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, and breathtaking lake views. It is located just minutes from Clemson and is a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.
One of the biggest attractions at South Cove is the campground. The park features 86 campsites, including many waterfront sites. Each campsite includes water and electrical hookups, and there are bathhouses and a dump station available for campers. Camping fees for Oconee County residents are currently twenty dollars per night for a standard campsite and twenty-five dollars per night for a waterfront site. For non-residents, the fees are thirty dollars per night for a standard site and forty dollars per night for a waterfront site.
For day visitors, the park charges five dollars per car and five dollars per boat trailer for parking. If you plan on visiting often, an annual pass for county residents costs twenty-five dollars. Seniors over sixty-two, veterans, and legally disabled individuals may qualify for a free discounted pass.
South Cove also has plenty of activities for families and outdoor lovers. Visitors can enjoy boating, water skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing from the handicap-accessible pier, swimming at the sand beach, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, horseshoes, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. The park also has shelters and recreation buildings available to rent for birthday parties, reunions, and weddings.
