Remember that if you have children turning 18 or who are headed off to college in the fall, consider whether your child should sign a power of attorney and/or health care surrogate designation. We will get these done at no charge for our existing clients!

This is a friendly reminder that if you have a safety deposit box, please make sure someone else is also listed on it with you at the bank. Otherwise, your family will have to get a court order to open the box when you’re gone and it is a big pain. Better yet, get a small safe and just get rid of the safety deposit box!

Almost all business entities (LLC's, corporations, etc), will be required to report certain information to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network starting 1/1/24. Part time position that will most likely grow to full time, working primarily from home but it will be necessary to come to the St. Petersburg office at least once a week.
At Everlove Legal, we need help with our guardianship caseload. This person willl be primarily responsible for tracking our guardianship filing deadlines, pestering clients to get us the paperwork we need, e-filing court documents, and preparing pleadings. We are really hoping to find someone who has experience with guardianships.
Everlove Legal is a happy, drama-free workplace. We’re all moms with kids still in school, so we are all about flexible schedules.

I’ve been contacted by a number of families over the past few weeks about setting up powers of attorney for their kids heading off to college. We’ve also been setting up Health Care Surrogate Designations for these families as well. These documents allow parents to continue helping their kids with things like filing taxes, banking, dealing with insurance, and dealing with their health care needs (AKA “adulting”). If your family is in a similar situation, give me a call and I’d be happy to answer any questions!

May I suggest a goal to accomplish in 2022? Make sure your beneficiary designations are up to date! Anywhere you have money (banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies), you can name a beneficiary to receive that money when you’re gone. People miss this all the time, especially with bank accounts, and really especially with savings accounts. It takes ten minutes, and can save your family months of time and thousands of dollars after you’re gone.
