As we begin PTSD Awareness Month, we’re starting with one of the most important resources in understanding and proving post-traumatic stress disorder: the DSM-5.

For those suffering from PTSD, the effects are real, life-changing, and often invisible to the outside world. Unfortunately, these injuries are frequently challenged in litigation, with defense experts sometimes claiming symptoms are exaggerated or not legitimate.

The DSM-5 provides the diagnostic criteria relied upon by mental health professionals across the country. It is often a critical tool in evaluating PTSD claims and understanding whether someone meets the criteria for diagnosis.

In serious injury cases, knowledge matters. Understanding the science, the diagnostic standards, and the long-term impact of trauma can make all the difference.

This is the first video in our PTSD Awareness Month series. Stay tuned as we continue the conversation around trauma, recovery, and advocacy.

When you go on a cruise, you expect to relax, make memories, and enjoy time with your family—not suffer a severe burn injury.

This case involved a client who was seriously injured aboard a major cruise line, resulting in painful and life-changing burns.

After extensive work on the case, it resulted in a confidential settlement that will help provide the resources needed for ongoing medical treatment, recovery, and future care.

Serious injuries can happen anywhere—even where people are supposed to feel safest. Accountability matters.

One of the most overlooked realities in personal injury law is this: brain injuries rarely present in a straightforward way.

A client may appear “fine” after an accident, only to experience memory issues, mood changes, headaches, fatigue, cognitive difficulties, or personality changes weeks or even months later.

That’s why these cases require more than a quick intake and a stack of medical records. They require patience, follow-up, and experience.

In serious injury cases, it’s critical to continue checking in with clients, encourage open conversations with treating physicians, and use brain injury questionnaires and evaluations that help uncover symptoms clients themselves may not initially recognize.

Brain injuries are insidious. The full extent of the damage often reveals itself over time.

For lawyers handling catastrophic injury cases, understanding that long-term impact is essential—not only for properly valuing the case, but for truly advocating for the person whose life has been changed.

These are not quick cases. They are life-altering cases, and they deserve to be handled with the level of care, investigation, and expertise they require.

Some injuries don’t just affect recovery—they change the entire course of a person’s life.

These are the cases that require deeper investigation, long-term planning, and a true understanding of what someone will need not just now, but years into the future.

When a person’s independence, mobility, cognitive function, or quality of life is permanently impacted, the stakes are different. These are not quick cases, and they should never be treated that way.

Behind every catastrophic injury case is a family trying to rebuild life after everything changed in an instant.

Today we remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who gave everything for this country and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers. 🇺🇸

We remember. We honor. We are forever grateful.

Catastrophic injury cases are not quick cases—because the consequences are lifelong.

Before a case can truly be valued, there has to be a clear understanding of how the injuries will impact a person not just today, but years from now.

That means building the case carefully with the right experts involved—from physicians and specialists to economists and life care planners who help determine the long-term medical and financial needs of the injured person.

These cases require strategy, investigation, and patience. The goal isn’t a quick resolution—it’s making sure the injured person is protected for the future.

After 38 years of handling serious injury cases, Liz understands what’s at stake when someone’s life has been permanently changed.

Before every ride, safety should come first.

As a rider, you’re trusting your bike—and your gear—with your life every time you get on the road.

Take a few minutes before you ride to check your tires, helmet, gloves, boots, protective eyewear, and riding gear. The smallest oversight can turn into a serious accident in seconds.

In Florida especially, riders face unpredictable traffic, weather, and road conditions every day. Being prepared matters.

Ride alert. Ride protected. Ride safe.

This wasn’t just a rear-end crash.

Our client suffered catastrophic and permanent brain injuries after being hit by a company van driven by an unqualified and unlicensed driver.

The damage was life-changing.

After extensive work on the case, it resulted in a confidential settlement that will help ensure the client has the financial security and support they need for the rest of their life.

These are the kinds of cases that remind us how serious the consequences of negligence can be—and why accountability matters.

As a motorcycle rider myself, I know how important it is to make sure your bike is safe before every ride.

One of the biggest things riders overlook? Tire pressure and tread.

Your tires affect your control, braking, and overall safety on the road more than most people realize.

Before you head out, take a few minutes to check your bike.
It could make all the difference.

Ride smart and stay safe out there.

Summer on the water starts with safety—especially on jet skis.

In Florida, you must be at least 14 years old to operate a jet ski, and riders are required to wear a properly fitted Type III life jacket.

Want to rent one? You must be 18 or older.

Jet skis are fun, fast, and popular during the summer—but safety should always come first. Protect yourself and everyone around you before hitting the water.
