For some reason there are so many realtors who think they are attorneys. Thats like a regular person thinking they are a doctor using Web MD. They write up horrible sales contracts or even sneak in clauses in listing agreements harming their own clients. Like any profession you have good and bad apples. And like any contract you need to know what you sign before you sign it!

Reminder to all Floridians!

The new license plate law is in effect and law enforcement will be enforcing with likely warnings to start. The rule is basically any sort of print on the tag cannot be covered. So likley the tag frame that came with your car or you bought to support your mighty Florida Gators are likley not compliant.

Free legal advice to start your week:

When you divorce, the Final Judgment and its terms are controlling going forward. If your ex-spouse or co-parent is not complying, you can seek enforcement by the Court. Judges dislike when parties disobey Court Orders. If your ex is not complying, send them a friendly follow up in writing and give them a reasonably time to comply, even if its to go to any required mediation if thats in the Judgement. If they dont, go reopen your case and file your Motion to Enforce and attach the good faith letter as an Exhibit. This will show you had no alternative except Court intervention.

Free Legal Advise Friday

Hi Everyone:

I see this often so its more of a PSA. Before you sign any agreement, please make sure you read it or have an attorney review it first. So many times people want to try to defend themselves in a lawsuit on the basis of what was told to them at the time of the contract. The contract you signed is typically controlling and usually has a clause that states any verbal statements are not binding. So that defense likely will not work.
