Preparing for the Domestic Terrorism Apparatus, Hosted by NLGR

Monday, November 10, 2025, 8:00pm ET / 7:00pm CT / 6:00pm MT / 5:00pm PT

As the administration moves to expand its domestic terrorism framework, new policies and rhetoric are raising alarm among social justice advocates. A recently issued presidential directive, National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-7), reportedly identifies a range of progressive, “anti-American,” and “anti-Christian” beliefs as potential indicators of “terrorism.” Paired with inflammatory claims about so-called “transgender extremism” and Donald Trump’s executive order targeting “Antifa,” these developments signal a disturbing effort to criminalize dissent and stigmatize marginalized communities.

The National Lawyers Guild Review (NLGR) will bring together activists, legal experts, and organizers to unpack what these shifts mean in practice. This urgent conversation comes amid growing political attacks, including Representative Lance Gooden’s (R–TX) formal request that the Department of Justice investigate the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) over its alleged association with “Antifa” or “antifascism.”

Together, we’ll explore:

What’s new and concerning about the federal domestic terrorism apparatus
How these policies may target activists, trans people, and other vulnerable communities
Practical steps for staying informed, secure, and organized

Join the Minnesota NLG Chapter for the 2025 National Lawyers Guild for the Annual Social Justice Dinner!
Saturday, September 13 at 6:00 pm
New City Center/Walker Church, 3104 16th Ave S, Minneapolis

Dhoruba Bin Wahad was a leader of the New York Black Panther Party, a Field Secretary of the BPP responsible for organizing chapters throughout the East Coast, and a member of the Panther 21. Arrested June 1971, he was framed as part of the illegal FBI Counter Intelligence program (COINTELPRO) and subjected to unfair treatment and torture during his nineteen years in prison. Living in both Ghana and the US, Dhoruba, an uncompromising critic of imperialism and capitalism, continues to write and work promoting freedom for all political prisoners and revolutionary Pan-Africanism.

The dinner will be catered by Louie Kader, of Afandina restaurant fame. We will be serving delicious Palestinian food with plenty of omnivore, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Expect an exciting evening of discussion on the need for and ways to build a united front against fascism--an essential message in this current climate.
