You trust your spouse. You still want a plan for your children.

“Before we choose a beneficiary, I want to know what this money needs to make possible.”
Wes, Personal Family Lawyer® attorney
Time to grieve. A home to keep. Support for your children. Those goals belong in the conversation before a name goes on a form. I help connect your choices with your Life & Legacy Plan.

Q: I have a trust. Should it receive my life insurance?

A Personal Family Lawyer® attorney reviews who needs the money, how they would access it, and who would manage it. Having a trust is the starting point, not the answer.

You bought the policy. Now, who should receive the money?
Your spouse? Your trust? Neither answer is automatically better.
For Life Insurance Awareness Month, I’m looking beyond the coverage amount: who needs support, who will manage the money, and what happens if your first choice cannot receive it. Start with your family, not a checkbox.

"I just made a will. Am I actually done?"
Not quite.
A will doesn't touch your beneficiary designations. Those override your will completely. It doesn't fund your trust if one was created. It doesn't cover incapacity. And it doesn't update itself when your life changes.
