ANNOUNCEMENT!

We have been asked many times if we are selling our building, moving, closing down our St. Clairsville office, etc.

The answer to all of that is no. We do not own the building, we have a multi-year lease in that location. The current owner is simply selling it.

We will be at 255 W. Main for the foreseeable future, providing you with, mostly, criminal and traffic defense services in OH and WV ⚖️

Attorneys Cross and Lenarz are headed to Texas! They will be out of office beginning Wednesday, September 30. They will return to office Monday, October 5.

DUIDLA will be hosting their 2026 fall seminar in San Antonio, Texas later this week, and Attorneys Cross and Lenarz will be attending to sharpen their skills for representing clients in OVI matters.

NOT GUILTY!

Attorney Cross wants to thank the Jurors of the Tuscarawas County Court- Southern District for their time and attention today.

After about 25 minutes of deliberations, the jury returned verdicts of Not Guilty on both counts for his client.

Attorney Cross spent his day today in the Coshocton Municipal Court with several hearings, two of which included OVI cases that were resolved:

1. A 1st in 10 years OVI but with two prior offenses beyond 20 years. The State agreed the charge for "State OVI" or OVI while refusing to submit to a chemical test and a prior conviction in the last 20 years was improper. End result: a plea to a standard "impaired operation OVI" first offense with unlimited driving privileges and all jail suspended.

2. The second case was a true first offense with a high tier urine test component. That case was set for a suppression hearing, challenging many aspects of the initial investigation up until the point of arrest. As a result of negotiations prior to beginning the scheduled Suppression Hearing, the urine test charge was dismissed, and our firm's client proceeded with entering a plea to a 1st offense impaired operation OVI, subjecting him to a Driver's Intervention Program (DIP) in lieu of jail, which was proactively set up in advance by our client. This negotiation saved our client at least 3 days in the county jail on top of completing a DIP.

Some days go beyond jury and bench trials for good results for good people. This was one of those days.

Attorney Cross's trial for today was continued until a later date. While our office is disappointed with the continuance and strongly objected to the same, at this point, we must also respect the decision.

Our attorneys are gearing up for potentially a very busy September and October with jury trials, and we look forward to the challenges on the road ahead.
