Hello Folks!
For those who are not familiar with the Knowles / McLeroy intersection, here are a few facts...

1. The intersection serves approximately 50% of the city's 23,000 residents.

2. It serves 3 schools.

3. It serves the municipal complex.

4. It serves 4 churches.

5. It serves two day cares.

6. It serves 5 businesses.

7. It serves Willow Creek Park.

8. It will serve the future Physical Rehab facility.

9. It will serve the future Assisted living facility.

10. At the city's projected maximum growth, the intersection will see 15,000 movements per day.

11. The city Engineer recommends the use of a single lane, raised crossing round about as the safest option for this incredibly busy intersection.

12. National traffic safety engineers engaged to study the conditions also endorse the single lane round about.

13. The public works director endorses the round about.

14. The Fire Chief endorses the round about.

15. The Police Chief endorses the round about.

16. The City Manager endorses the round about.

17. 5 of the 7 council members endorse the round about.

I realize that there are those who have an emotional resistance to the round about, but to suggest that all of these people who have endorsed it as the safest possible way to convey the traffic through it are not public safety conscience... I have no words.

If folks feel that this intersection improvement is so overwhelmingly dangerous that they are willing to vote against all other roadway improvements proposed in Bond Prop A, I respect that. But just because I and all of the others listed above feel that it safest solution does not mean we are ignoring facts or public safety.

Hello Folks,

As most of you know, the city council unanimously voted to send Bond Propositions A, B and C to voters this election cycle.

Each of these propositions address quality of life improvements for our community ranging from road improvements to public facilities for all citizens to enjoy.

These propositions are important to address the current and future growth of our community. Regardless of opinion, the city cannot make laws that prevent increase in population BUT the city, with your support can address the impacts of it. We are currently on a trajectory to reach our plan maximum population of 36,000 within the next 10 to 15 years. It’s foolish to wait until we have reached that maximum capacity to address the issue, especially when it will take 5 to 7 years to complete all of the planned projects.

Please join me and the entire council in support of these much needed quality of life improvements! If you are interested in showing your support, please let me know. A member of the bond committee, Todd Flippo, Valerie Junkersfield and myself have pitched in to purchase yard signs encouraging folks to vote FOR these much needed quality of life improvements.

In service to you.
Patrick

Hello folks,

Although I announced back in November that I would not be seeking a third term on the Saginaw City Council, many of you are just now discovering this, and have asked why…

Simply, I am in the prime of my professional life and feel that I must focus my energy on that for the betterment of my family.

I sincerely hope that my contributions during this past 6 years of service have made a positive impact on the community and set it on a path of sustainable improvement. I truly am grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve this community.

My decision has opened a new opportunity for someone to step up and serve the community. I recall not more than two months into my service as a council member, a city staff member saw that I was studying my council packet in a conference room and stated as a matter of fact “now don’t spend too much time looking over that, the city runs itself”. My hope is that whoever that someone might be will bring with them the acumen, work ethic and back bone necessary to stand up to the challenges that our community faces (both internally and externally) with an independent and well-informed mind.

Again, thank you all for your interest in the success of our community, your support of me in my service to you, and most of all your continued engagement as an informed voter.

In service to You,
Patrick
