There is no finer thing than hard-working attorneys receiving Not Guilty jury verdicts across the board after a jury trial.

Relief for the acquitted client is immediately palpable. When the State mistakenly points its finger at innocent persons, it is easy for those same innocent defendants to get crushed by the system.

Not this day!

Congratulations to clients AC and RS for courageously standing up to the State and for the wise jurors who got it right. Co-counsel Jared Favero was exceptional. We will take the W and move on to the next case!

Happy holidays!

Some observations on my last day as a 56 year old (part 1):

1. You will appreciate your love for others more as you age.

2. Six AM doesn’t seem early anymore.

3. Raising children is the most delightful thing a human can do.

4. Don’t wait to live your bucket list.

5. You will become a birder eventually.

6. The music WAS better in our day.

7. Things don’t matter… people do.

8. When your parents leave, you’ll think of them every day.

9. Videos of loved ones telling a story are invaluable.

10. People who matter don’t really care about your hair or clothes.

11. Raising chickens is fun.

12. Your siblings, if you’re lucky enough to have them, are lifelong friends.

13. There isn’t enough time to live everywhere you’d like to, so be sure to travel regularly,

14. Life is better when you help others just because you want to.

15. There’s no reason to be lonely on this planet, where dogs and cats live.

16. Take the time to connect with the people you work with.

17. The sound of your child laughing makes all of life‘s hardships worth it.

18. The weather does get more interesting as you get older.

19. You learn that you can celebrate New Year’s Eve earlier in the day.

20. A beer or glass of wine now and then can be a good thing but sharing non-alcoholic drinks on the porch with friends is always a good thing.

21. Days without cell phones are better than days with them.

22. It’s OK to rewatch your favorite movies, especially if you go to the movie theater to do so.

23. You will think of your favorite teachers your whole life.

24. Listen to music and sing out loud while you clean your house, because then it is fun.

25. if you see trash on the ground and it bothers you pick it up. If it doesn’t bug you, you might want to think about that.

26. Planting trees is good for your soul and the planet.

27. You won’t remember every birthday you have, so you should try to make all of the remaining ones memorable.

28. Giving gifts to others on your birthday Is one way to make them even more special. Sharing a special activity together is an even better way.

As we near the end of another busy and rainy work week, I want to acknowledge outstanding team achievements just from this week.

Alex Benesch helped the firm earn a five-star Google review for excellent customer service. Alex has been with us for four years and is a valuable part of our customer service team. Clients who call usually speak to him first.

Attorney Aaron Weaver successfully negotiated a non-strike felony resolution in Sacramento County for a client facing numerous firearm and assault charges. Our client was released from jail shortly after we filed a suppression motion to keep out statements made without a Miranda warning. This earned another five-star review!

Attorney Robert Ward continues his fight through the appellate court to uphold a military diversion grant for a Yolo County DUI client. Fantastic, Rob.

Our clients appreciate the care and compassion given each and every day! This little bird made an appearance in our parking lot to let us know that Spring is near.

Let us know how we can help!

I’m posting this to say thank you to the thousands of firefighters and emergency personnel who are fighting these many fires.

They work around the clock to save our homes and property and forests.

Please be sure to thank firefighters when next you see them.
