Community Concepts has provided transportation services to DHHS for some time for children and parents involved in protective custody cases. This program has also served to provide transportation to people for medical appointments through MaineCare. The end of this program will affect a LOT of families.
We have an important announcement to share about our organization’s Transportation Program. After a thorough review and analysis, staff in partnership with the Board of Directors of Community Concepts, Inc. have made the difficult decision to close our Transportation Program effective 9/30/22.
We have heard some confusion from customers and want to clarify that no other programs are affected by this decision. Community Concepts will continue serving customers through our many other programs.
Closing our Transportation Program was not an easy decision. The program has sustained significant financial losses over the last 6+ years despite numerous process enhancements and changes. Increased fuel costs have also added more pressure to the program, and the Coronavirus pandemic has had a direct impact on our volunteer driver base.
A phased close-out of the program has begun with our partners, and we will continue to schedule rides for our clients through the end of September.
We appreciate your understanding as we work through this transition, and again want to emphasize that Community Concepts will remain open and serving the community through our other programs. Thank you.
