This Friday, Kunkle Trademark & Legal will be closed to the public in a show of solidarity with Minnesota Small Business’ participating in "ICE OUT OF MN — a Day of Truth & Freedom."
On Friday, January 23, Minnesotans are coming together for a peaceful day of moral action and reflection. Instead of work, school, or shopping, people are participating in a day-long economic strike.
My participation is based on my belief that:
• ICE has exceeded reasonable enforcement efforts and is regularly violating the civil rights of residents of Minnesota.
• The officer who killed Renée Good must be held legally accountable, along with other officers who have used excessive force in response to protests.
• No additional federal funding should be allocated to ICE, and ICE must be investigated for human and constitutional violations affecting Americans and our neighbors.
• Immigration enforcement is necessary, but it must be done legally, humanely, and without malice.
Participants are encouraged to unite with family, neighbors, and community at a march in downtown Minneapolis at 2 PM to call for accountability and meaningful change. This is a non-violent event centered on conscience, community, and respect for all people.
On Saturday, I encourage people to seek out restaurants and markets participating in the strike or affected by ICE's over-enforcement activities.

Firm Standards for Representation
I am proud to work with clients across a wide range of political, religious, and personal viewpoints and do not base decisions about whom to serve on political views, religious beliefs, or personal ideology. At the same time, the Firm reserves the right to decline or withdraw from engagements where the requested services are intended to directly harm, target, discriminate against, or otherwise adversely impact any individual or group based on race, religion, gender, national origin, or other legally protected traits, or where the engagement would conflict with the Firm’s professional judgment, ethical obligations, or core values.
Over the course of my legal career, I have felt the need to exercise this discretion only once. I will continue to value the opportunity to work with and speak with people who hold perspectives different from my own.
