What an incredible day we had at the President’s Circle Open House yesterday!

The Open House is our annual showcase … an opportunity for others to experience the magic of the Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce Presidents Circle. Yesterday brought together Black CEOs, Founders, Entrepreneurs, and Leaders from all sectors (from Industry to Government) for an intentional day of exploring Strategic Partnerships for Growth.

And of course, none of it could have happened without the support from our Facilitators and Speaker, Bill Tompkins challenging leaders to PIVOT and adapt in changing times, to Sara Essama sharing practical strategies for business development, and Dan Caplan unpacking recent Executive Orders and Compliance for business owners. And of course, our executive panelists Tanisha Lewis, Keith Howard, Aaron Fenwick, Jennifer Hanks, Darryl E. Peek II and Jennifer Hanks rounded out the conversation with perspectives on procurement, joint ventures, collaboration, and what it truly means to win together.

A special thank you to our sponsors, Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce, Foley & Lardner LLP for making the experience possible, and our Presidents Tamara E. Guillory, Nathan Speight, Cassandra Lacey, Deneen Williams, Iris Bond Gill, Ed.D., Joshua Wells, Shayna Renee Hammond, David K Gregory II, Ebony Gaynor Barbour and guests for bringing their perspectives and energy into the room.

We wrapped up the long day with a much-needed Happy Hour, where the connections and conversations continued.

The President’s Circle is about more than bringing leaders into a room. It is about creating the environment for stronger relationships, practical knowledge, strategic collaboration, and opportunities that continue well beyond the session.

Thank you to everyone who made yesterday’s experience one to remember.

What a great evening with our President’s Circle community yesterday! 🎉

Our President’s Circle Summer Happy Hour brought together members from Cohorts 1 and 2 for an evening of reconnecting, meeting new faces, and spending time together outside of our monthly sessions. It was wonderful to see our community continue to grow as Presidents strengthened existing relationships and built new ones.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening such a success. We also appreciate our facilitators for taking the time to join us, connect with our Presidents, and be part of the evening.

Your presence added to the sense of community that makes the President’s Circle so special.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our next President’s Circle event!

Introducing The Business Brief, a new MBA Growth Partners series designed to spark practical conversations about leadership, strategy, and sustainable business growth.

Today’s reminder is simple: busy is not the same as productive. A full calendar can make us feel accomplished, but activity alone does not always move a business forward. Real progress comes from focusing on the work that creates the greatest impact, delegating what does not require your direct attention, and making space for strategic decisions.

As you begin the week, take a moment to ask yourself:

✅ What tasks will genuinely move your business forward?
✅ What can you delegate?
✅ What deserves your attention most this week?

Productivity is not about doing more. It is about doing what matters most.

What is one activity taking up your time without creating meaningful results?
