Hey ROCKVILLE!!! Want your children/students to have the best education??? Here's your chance to put your plan into action just by committing a few hours!!!

In order to get the state money that MCPS deserves for Capital Improvement (read: RMES #5, an addition for Julius West & modernization for Twinbrook ES), we need to hit the road and bring people to Annapolis!

Last year, Baltimore City brought 1000 people to Annapolis and they ended up with money for their schools! Let's do it for our kids and bring as many bodies to Annapolis as we can!!! MCCPTA will have a bus from MCPS's Carver Center in Rockville so PLEASE sign up, spend the evening with us and bring home the bacon to Montgomery County! Our kids deserve better schools! SSL units will be provided for students ready to go engage legislators : )

The bus, free of charge and courtesy of MCCPTA, will depart 850 Hungerford Drive at 4:30 pm and leave Annapolis at 9 pm in time for you to get a good night sleep knowing that you did your share for public education!

Para recibir dinero del estado de Maryland, lo cual MCPS merece para su plan de Capital Improvement (leido: RM Elementary School #5, an addition for Julius West Middle School & modernization for Twinbrook ES), necesitamos mandar a la gente a Annapolis.

El ano pasado, la Ciudad de Baltimore trajo 1000 personas a Annapolis y recibieron dinero para sus escuelas. Vamos hacer esto para nuestros ninos y traer lo maximo de gente que podemos. MCCPTA (La Asociacion de Padres y maestros del Condado de Montogmery) tendra un autobus desde Carver Center en Rockville. Favor de inscribirse para pasar la tarde/noche con nosotros y ganarse el cocido al Condado de Montgomery! Nuestros niños merecen escuelas mejores. Horas de SSL serán disponibles para estudiantes que trabajan y asistan.

El autobus, gratis, cortesia del MCCPTA, partira desde 850 Hungerford Drive a las 4:30 de la tarde y salira desde Annapolis a las 9 de la noche, dando a uno bastante tiempo para que duerma bien, sabiendo que hizo su parte para la education publica.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joshua Starr filed his recommendations for the FY2015 Capital Budget and Capital Improvement Program with the Montgomery County Board of Education yesterday.

Dr. Starr has proposed delaying Wheaton Woods' modernization until August 2017 in lieu of expanding other recently renovated schools in the area. The Board of Education will have hearings on November 11th and 14th at 7pm at the Carver Education Center auditorium at 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville, MD regarding these recommendations. Please come out wearing BLUE AND WHITE to support Wheaton Woods. We will be attending to make sure Wheaton Woods is not forgotten and to encourage the Board to keep the Wheaton Woods modernization project on the current schedule (beginning January 2015).

The Book Fair-oh is Coming!
We are inviting you to be a part of our School Book Fair. It's taking place on October 14, 15, 17, 2013 from 8:30am-4:30pm, October 16th 8:30am-8:30pm, closed Friday October 18th and Saturday October 19th 9am-1pm.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Volunteer at the Book Fair and get a FREE book for your child. Contact PTA at [email protected] or Cherissa Taylor at 240-558-3545.

You can shop for books for your entire family! If for some reason you can't make it or you want to continue shopping from an expanded selection, you can now visit the fair online- www.scholastic.com/fair (Wheaton Woods ES).

The Online Fair:
* gives you the opportunity to purchase books from the online Classroom Wish List our teachers have created, which will help refresh our classroom library and give students access to a variety of new books.
*is available for an extended time and all orders ship FREE to school
*provides a chance for you and your child to create and send wish lists to invite friends and family to participate in the Book Fair.
*Offers an expanded book selection for all ages- from preschool to adult

School will be starting again in just one month. Are you ready? As Wheaton Woods ES is preparing for a new school year, our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) has collaborated with teachers and TeacherLists.com to provide electronic school supply lists for you. Just one way we are trying to help getting ready for school less hectic and more productive. Please visit www.teacherlists.com, enter our zip code and select Wheaton Woods Elementary School. From there, all you have to do is select your child's grade. You can access these lists from any computer, smartphone or ipad.
