What would happen if you suddenly couldn’t take care of your own affairs?

A medical emergency can happen without much warning. I was recently reminded of that myself after spending some time in the hospital.

Fortunately, I’m doing better. But it made me think about how many people have their estate planning documents in place without having the rest of the plan ready.

Does your family know who your Power of Attorney is?
Do they know where your important documents and financial information are?
Would they know who to call if something happened to you?

I talk about a few simple things you can do now—including creating an “If Something Happens to Me” file—in this week’s video.

Maryland homeowners, we have something new to talk about. 🏡

Starting October 1, 2026, Maryland is introducing a new estate planning tool called a Transfer on Death Deed.

The basic idea is pretty simple: it may allow you to name someone to receive your home after you die without the property having to go through probate.

But before you think, “Great, problem solved!” there are a few things you need to consider.

A TOD Deed may work well for some straightforward situations, but it doesn’t necessarily address everything that comes with estate planning.

Have you heard about Maryland’s new Transfer on Death Deed yet? Let me know in the comments!

If you own Bitcoin, I have a question for you…

Does your family know you own it?

And more importantly, would they know how to find it and access it if something happened to you?

That’s one of the biggest things people overlook when it comes to cryptocurrency and estate planning.

Unlike a traditional bank account, some crypto assets can be extremely difficult to recover if your family doesn’t have the information they need.

In this video, I talk about three things I think crypto owners should consider when planning for the future.

And I’m curious… Have you ever thought about what would happen to your crypto if you weren’t around to access it?

Have you ever asked ChatGPT a question about your will? 🤔

With AI becoming part of our everyday lives, I’m starting to hear this question more often:

“Can ChatGPT help me with my estate plan?”

My answer? It can… but there are some important limitations.

AI can be a great way to make complicated legal language easier to understand or help you figure out what questions you want to ask. But your estate plan isn’t just about what’s written in a document.

Your family, your assets, your goals, and even the laws where you live all matter.

I talk about this in my latest video and explain where I think AI can be helpful, and where I wouldn’t rely on it.

Now I’m curious: Would you trust ChatGPT to look over your will? 👀

Tell me in the comments: Yes, No, or Maybe?

One question I hear a lot is:
“Can someone challenge my will after I’m gone?”

And I get why people ask… it sounds like something that happens all the time.

The truth is—it can happen, but not for just any reason.
It’s not enough for someone to simply feel it’s “unfair” or disagree with what you decided.

There are specific legal reasons a will can be challenged, and it actually takes real evidence—not just emotions.

I put together a short video explaining how this works and what really matters if you want your wishes to hold up.

And now I’m curious—have you ever heard of a situation where a will was challenged? 👀
