So happy the 2018-2019 edition of Adopting in America: How to Adopt Within One Year is now out. Even though I now focus on stepparent and adult adoption, I still wanted to keep the book updated to help guide people to safe, affordable and ethical adoptions when doing newborn and intercountry adoptions. I also wanted to encourage the use of adoption registries that find adoptive homes for waiting children by showing the system is easy and usually even totally free to adopt from. I was flattered to be asked to write a short section of this book by Khloe Lee Banks, a closing discussion for parents on how to talk about adoption with their young child, and make it a word they recognize as one of love and commonality. The book is a sweet approach to adoption, with full page color photos, and we follow 6 year old Ally as we meet her many friends who are adopted. We even learn about many famous people who are adopted that young children can identify with, like Simone Biles and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, and even Moses from the Bible.
