It's that time of year again where we get the privilege to introduce you to our Summer Law Clerks!

This year, we are excited to introduce you to Alexis Saldana — a law student from Pepperdine Caruso Law School, a public interest law professional, and one of our exceptional law clerks.

Raised in Corona, CA, Alexis comes to ICLS with the goal to give back to the community she grew up in and serve Riverside County.

"I really love how ICLS connects directly with the community and does so much community outreach so resources can be provided to such a wide range of people and legal issues," said Alexis.

When she's not engaged in her legal work, you can find Alexis in any given place traveling, reading (non-law school related books), and scrapbooking.

When a community understands their legal rights and protections, it opens the door for fair participation in the justice system. 🌈❤️ To that end, ICLS co-hosted "Pride in Protection" this weekend – a community learning session to help the LGBTQ+ community navigate a changing legal landscape. Our legal advocates covered legal protections, common problems, and potential solutions for LGBTQ+ individuals in immigration proceedings, education settings, and more.

The event also featured special remarks from Senator Sabrina Cervantes, who currently serves as the Vice Chair of the California Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus. It takes all of us to move the needle on issues impacting our communities, and we're grateful to our partners at the Civil Rights Institute of Inland Southern California, the Human Rights Coalition of San Bernardino County, the Family Assistance Program, and Senator Cervantes' office for their steadfast dedication and collaboration.

Inland Counties Legal Services is proud to have been selected as a 2026 California Nonprofit of the Year by State Senator Sabrina Cervantes, CA-31, due to our work fighting homelessness, hunger, and other critical civil legal issues in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.❤️⚖️

ICLS is one of more than one hundred nonprofits that will be honored today by their state senators and assemblymembers for their outstanding contributions to the communities they serve.

“Through tireless legal advocacy and services, Inland Counties Legal Services has gone above and beyond to work toward the betterment of the Inland Empire community,” said Senator Cervantes. “Since its founding in 1958, ICLS has demonstrated its commitment to uplifting our communities, expanding access to legal aid, and convening its organization to proactively tackle gaps in justice.”

In 2025, ICLS helped over 300 U.S. veterans and active military members obtain government assistance because we know that serving U.S. vets benefits society at-large in meaningful social and economic ways.

In an effort to expand our veteran work and better support our local communities, ICLS makes it a priority to learn about the obstacles face while acquiring assistance they are entitled to.

That is why we always jump at the chance to attend events like The National Organization of Veterans' Advocates, Inc ("NOVA") Conference - where we learned a great deal and gained access to new resources that will aid our clients.
