While motorcycle accidents can happen at any number of different locations and times of the day, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Association, about 61% of all motorcycle accidents happen on urban roads at intersections when other motorists are making left-hand turns. According to a recent study conducted at Syracuse University, motorcycle death rates due to head injuries are lower in states with helmet laws vs those with no helmet laws. When helmet laws are implemented, the percentage of riders who wear helmets increases to more than 90%. Wearing a helmet saves lives, and, in California, it's the law.
