Today at Accent Immigration.

Last week a women's father passed away and she needed to obtain an emergency I-131 Travel Document in order to attend the wake tomorrow evening (1/6) and funeral on Saturday morning (1/7). After calling USCIS all week, the Immigration Services Officer gave an info-pass appointment for January 12 (5 days too late). The women was extremely upset that she would not be able to attend her father's funeral.

I could not let that happen. I told her that I was cancelling my appointments for this afternoon and will do everything in my power to get her to attend the wake tomorrow evening. We were to meet me at USCIS in 1 hour.

The guards don't let visitors in without an appointment, but I got us inside. Once inside I showed the funeral paperwork to the women at the desk and they told me I could not be seen without an appointment. I started to get loud which was overheard by an Officer who was compassionate to the situation. The officer had recently lost a loved one and granted the travel document.

As I handed the travel document over to her is when the tears really started as I told her to buy the airline ticket because she will be with her family tomorrow afternoon for the service.

It is for stories like this that we do what we do.

The benefit raised more than $400,000 for Onward Together, the political group founded by Clinton, and Latino Victory, which supports Latino Candidates.
