Eduardo "Eddie" Ray Ramirez
The son of the late Romeo Javier Ramirez, Sr. and Frances Taylor Ramirez, Eddie was born in McAllen, Texas and raised in Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas and has four brothers and one sister (R.J. Ramirez, Louie Ramirez, Danny Ramirez, Angel Ramirez, and Anissa Ramirez). After graduating Valedictorian from Rio Grande City High School in 1997, Eddie went on to recei
ve a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with Honors from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas in 2001. He graduated Summa Cum Laude at the top of his class, being the only student out of a class of three hundred and fourteen to earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while also serving as President of both the Pre-Law Society and Criminal Justice / Criminology Student Associations. After graduating from St. Mary's, Eddie then enrolled at the prestigious University of Texas School of Law, where he earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. While at the University of Texas School of Law, Eddie was an active participant in the Chicano/Hispanic Law Student Association and UT Intramural Sports, serving as coach/player for both football and softball law school teams all three years of law school. In his last semester, Eddie applied and was granted enrollment in the law school's Juvenile Justice Clinic where he passionately defended numerous juveniles with criminal charges in the Travis County Juvenile Justice System. Eddie's passion for law started during his freshman year of high school when he began working at the Law Offices of Calixtro Villarreal, Jr., P.C. in Rio Grande City, where he eventually served as a paralegal and later as a licensed lawyer. For fifteen (15) years, Eddie assisted attorneys Calixtro Villarreal, Jr. and Orlando Rodriguez with a wide range of cases, including personal injury, criminal defense, family, and property law cases. On August 01, 2008, Eddie joined The Cowen Law Group and served as the Managing Attorney for its Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas office. Eddie was responsible for all aspects of litigation for injured plaintiffs. Finally, in September 2009, Eddie made the incredibly difficult decision to leave The Cowen Law Group to accomplish his lifelong dream of opening his own law practice in his hometown of Rio Grande City, where he would be able to humbly serve those in his community with a broad range of legal services.
