A nurse coach is a registered nurse who has additional training in health and wellness coaching, allowing them to work with individuals to promote positive lifestyle changes, achieve health goals, and improve overall well-being through a holistic approach, often focusing on education, support, and empowerment rather than direct medical care; essentially, they use their nursing expertise to guide clients towards better health choices.
Key points about nurse coaches:
Holistic approach:
They consider the whole person, including physical, mental, and emotional aspects when supporting clients.
Focus on behavior change:
Nurse coaches help clients identify and modify unhealthy behaviors to make sustainable lifestyle changes.
Patient-centered care:
They prioritize client autonomy and work collaboratively to develop personalized plans.
Specialized training:
Beyond their nursing license, nurse coaches undergo additional coaching certification programs to develop necessary skills.
What might a nurse coach do?
Assist clients in setting health goals
Provide education on nutrition, exercise, stress management, and disease prevention
Offer motivational support and accountability
Facilitate communication between clients and their healthcare providers
Help clients navigate complex medical information.
I am currently enrolled in the Nurse Coach Collective, studying to be Board Certified as a Holistic Nurse Coach. I am looking for 6 Pro Bono (free) clients to commit to 4 or 5 coaching sessions with me.
