A Los Angeles judge ruled on May 13, 2026, that $625,000 in bonus payments must be returned to the Michael Jackson estate.

The payments were made by estate executors John Branca and John McClain to outside law firms in 2018 and were found not properly justified.

Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff also ordered that future attorney bonus payments require written consent from all beneficiaries or court approval.

Paris Jackson, daughter of the late singer, said the decision represents a “massive win” and emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in managing the estate.

She is entitled to seek reimbursement for her attorney fees related to the objection.

Executors stated they respect the ruling but disagreed with parts of it, noting their past management of the estate’s finances.

The court confirmed the decision does not affect trust distributions or inheritance arrangements for beneficiaries.
