SpineFrontier's former CFO has pleaded guilty to funneling payments disguised as consulting fees to surgeons to use the company's spinal implants in patient surgeries. Founding partner Stephen A. Weiss and counsel Justin M. Smigelsky represent two of the relator whistleblowers who helped bring this fraud to light.

Seeger Weiss has now been involved in five separate qui tam matters that resulted in criminal pleas or convictions, underscoring the firm’s sustained role in uncovering and pursuing significant fraud and misconduct.

“Whistleblower cases like this one demonstrate that crime doesn't pay, and that those whose fraud and corruption trigger False Claims Act violations risk severe consequences that far outweigh any gains when individuals with vigilance and courage come forward,” said Weiss.

When corporate misconduct drains public budgets, it is ordinary taxpayers, and the governmental entities that serve them, who end up carrying the cost. Seeger Weiss represents states, counties, municipalities, public agencies, and self-funded payer plans in litigation against the corporations responsible for those harms.

Leadership appointments in insulin pricing and opioid litigation, among others, underscore the firm's standing as a go-to counsel for municipalities and public agencies in complex, large-scale cases.

If your government entity may have been harmed by corporate misconduct, our team would like to hear from you.

Premature infants are among the most vulnerable patients in any hospital, and research has shown that feeding them cow's milk-based formulas like Similac and Enfamil may significantly increase their risk of developing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a life-threatening gastrointestinal condition that can cause permanent injury or death.

Manufacturers Abbott and Mead-Johnson are facing hundreds of lawsuits alleging they failed to warn parents and caregivers of these risks. The litigation is consolidated in multidistrict proceedings in the Northern District of Illinois, with bellwether trials scheduled to continue in 2026.

Parents or caregivers of premature infants who developed NEC after being fed cow's milk-based formula may be eligible for compensation. Learn more: https://www.seegerweiss.com/product-liability/nec-baby-formula/

Seeger Weiss founding partner Christopher Seeger and several other plaintiff’s attorneys negotiated a landmark proposed $7.25 billion nationwide class-action settlement to compensate thousands of individuals across the United States who were exposed to Roundup herbicides and have or will-be diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Filed in the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court for the City of St. Louis, the agreement establishes a long-term compensation program funded for up to 21 years, designed to meet the needs of both current and future claimants. For tens of thousands of families who have waited years for resolution, it represents a long-awaited path forward.

“After years of intense litigation and uncertainty, this agreement provides a clear, streamlined path to compensation—delivering speed, transparency, and security for those already suffering, while preserving future claimants’ rights” said Christopher Seeger, proposed counsel for the proposed class.
