Happy holidays from Hyder Immigration Law! As the year comes to a close, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our clients for the trust you place in us, as well as our dedicated team, whose commitment to our clients is the foundation of everything we do.

This year brought its share of challenges, and we are truly grateful for the resilience of our clients and the unwavering dedication of our team in facing them together.

To allow our team time to celebrate the holidays, our office will be closed from December 24 – 26 and again from December 30 – January 2. We wish you a joyful holiday season and a happy New Year!

**Best advice for international travelers**:
Travel with as little data and as few devices as possible. Consider using a travel-only smartphone or laptop that doesn’t contain private or sensitive information.

The government claims the authority to search all electronic devices at the border, no matter your legal status or whether there is reason to suspect that you’ve committed a crime.

*If you’re a US citizen*, you can’t be denied entry into the country if you refuse to comply with a request to unlock your device or to provide a password. BUT you might be detained for longer or have your device seized and not returned to you for weeks or months.

The same should be true for those who have previously been admitted to the *United States as lawful permanent residents* and have maintained their status — their green cards can’t be revoked without a hearing before an immigration judge.

Happy holidays from Hyder Immigration Law! We are excited to announce that we have recently moved to a new office (only a few miles away). We have enjoyed settling in and serving our clients from this beautiful space that we are grateful to call HIL's new home. ♥

Our HIL team again had the honor of attending the YWCA Richmond Outstanding Women's Awards Luncheon to celebrate exceptional women in our Richmond community. Naureen has had the privilege of being involved with the YWCA since she was in law school and now serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of YWCA Richmond. This event is one of our favorite firm outings each year; we always leave inspired by the incredible stories of each recipient and motivated to do more good work for our clients and community.

Thank you to the YWCA for hosting such a beautiful event!

Happy Holidays from the HIL Team!

This December, we have been enjoying our office traditions and wrapping up 2023 with appreciation for all that we have accomplished.

We are immensely grateful for the dedication and hard work of our amazing team throughout the year. This commitment has been the driving force behind our success, and we are so thankful for the ability to serve our clients with expertise, ensuring their immigration journey is guided with genuine care.

Again this year, we teamed up with YWCA Richmond to provide gifts to families experiencing hardship. This tradition always warms our hearts and deepens the sense of connection to our Richmond community.

To thank our team and come back refreshed in the new year, our office will be closed beginning Monday, December 25. We will reopen Tuesday, January 2.
