I had two 2 hour trials in the same court today, each overlapping the other by an hour… 😑… each were successful!
It was one of those days. The 9 am Circuit Court case was miscalendared and supposed to be at 1… which would have been a 3rd court conflict and an additional 45 minute commute to the Juvenile courts I was already in.
Both domestic clients were fathers. Each had a case that spiraled out of control over the past 24 hours.
This was one of the toughest trail days I’ve had in a while! It felt good for each of the clients to clap me on the shoulder and tell me they loved me. They were appreciative.
That made all the difference. Because days like today are even more crushing when the clients blame you for the burndown…
Oh and I forgot to mention… I also forgot my “breifcase” and didn’t realize until I was at court and unable to retrieve it from my kitchen countertop… 👀
Still crushed it… 🤭 I don’t say that to brag, I think that sometimes we lawyers forget that it’s not about the exhibit so much as the “story” and perspective.
