Dinwiddie County, Va. — A truck driver is facing multiple charges after crashing into a Burger King in Dinwiddie County late Wednesday night, leaving two people injured, state police tell Virginia Statewide Incidents.
The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. on October 7 at the Burger King on Boydton Plank Road, where police say a 2001 International truck struck the restaurant’s dining area.
According to state police, a preliminary investigation indicates the driver was attempting to park when he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes, causing the truck to crash into the building.
Two people were transported to an area hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.
The driver, identified by authorities as Franklin Scott Traylor of Petersburg, was charged with driving a commercial motor vehicle under the influence, driving without a commercial driver’s license and failing to provide proof of insurance at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
