It’s happening!! Voting is now open for this year’s rescue dog contest!! We are happy to introduce Millie from For the love of Poodles Rescue of Richmond, VA Hailey from Sanctuary Rescue Barbara from Beagles and Bentleys Ember from Richmond SPCA and Sunny from Friends United with the Richmond Shelter (FURS)! All these dogs and their rescues are now one step closer to winning $$$ and starring on our billboards. One furry friend will be highlighted each day, but be sure to read about their stories on our website too when you go to vote!

You can cast your vote once per day, and anyone can participate! Your friends, your family, and even your pen pal across the ocean can help vote for which dog you think is best! Thank you to everyone who submitted, we had over 300 submissions, so it was no easy task to whittle them down to just a handful. Thank you ESPECIALLY to those who submitted from rescues we had never heard of before, we hope to bring more attention to those not featured today in the future 🤗

As part of our weekly roundup please enjoy some of our favorite entries from the last week! Thank you to everyone that has submitted, we have had over 300 entries and loved seeing each and every one of your furry friends 😁

Remember, today is the last day to submit to our rescue dog contest! If you haven’t submitted yet, you have until midnight TONIGHT!

If you have submitted already, please be on the lookout for a call, email or DM from us tomorrow on September 1st. We will be notifying the top 5 nominees and may need more photos of your furry friend or hear more about their story, prior to officially announcing them the next day.

On September 2nd polls will officially open and the top five nominees will be hosted on our website for ease of viewing and voting. Be sure to read all about them and all the rescue that  they came from!!

We will highlight one Canine Candidate randomly each day on our socials, but it’s up to you to and their rescue to help get the word out for the dog you want to win! Tell everyone and anyone to vote for your favorite pooch or rescue, just remember you can only vote once per day. Links and reminders will be posted to make it easy for you to share and remind friends and family, so keep an eye out!

Meet some of our applicants from Week 3 of our rescue dog contest! It has been such a pleasure to see the love you all have for your rescue animals and the new lives that you have given to them. So many smiling faces and wonderful stories of perseverance and love ❤️ thank you to everyone who has shared with us so far.

Collisions involving tractor trailers often lead to more serious injuries, property damage, and insurance issues that go far beyond your typical car accident. In the aftermath of an crash with a commercial truck be sure to avoid these FIVE mistakes 👇

1. Never assume the truck driver or trucking company will report the crash accurately. Call the police and report the crash yourself!

2. Do not leave the scene before officers arrive and document the accident. If you are physically able, remain at the scene in a safe area until police arrive.

3. Do not admit fault at the scene of the accident. Even apologizing or speculating about what happened may be used to shift the blame. Stick to the basic facts when speaking with law enforcement.

4. Be sure to document the scene and any available evidence. Collect important information like photos of vehicles involved, the truck drivers information, any witness details and note skid marks, debris, traffic signs and road conditions.

5. Most importantly, do not delay seeking medical attention! The likelihood of an internal injury is much higher when an accident involves commercial trucks. They are larger, heavier and more dangerous than regular vehicles.
