Most of my friends know that I graduated from Villanova University Law School, but I am not Catholic. I received an excellent education, and for those who might wonder - NO, I was not enrolled in any program that gave me any special consideration due to race, gender, or ethnicity
Scholarship, ethics, and personal responsibility for one's actions and obligations were and remain intricately woven in all aspects of the study and practice of law. For that, I will always be grateful.
Dr. King spoke at Villanova on January 20, 1965, addressing civil rights challenges to a large audience. Each January, Villanova's Center for Peace and Justice Education hosts keynote lectures and events reflecting on King's vision and ongoing struggles for justice. In addition, the original printed manuscript of King's iconic speech is held by Villanova (on long-term loan to the National Museum of African American History and Culture). A "Freedom School" inspired by the Civil Rights Movement offers workshops on King's legacy and related social justice topics.
I continue to be a proud alumnus.
