Under the Attorney General’s Victim
Notification Program (VNP), you have the
right to be informed of legal proceedings
involving your case. In criminal appeals
and habeas corpus proceedings, our office
works to ensure that the defendant’s
conviction is upheld. In the case of a
sexually violent predator, you have the
right to attend all hearings held throughout
the civil commitment process.

Legal proceedings can sometimes be both
lengthy and confusing. VNP can clarify
the events in your case and answer any
questions about Virginia’s criminal justice or
civil commitment process.
