East Potomac Park Golf Course Renovation

• Projected Construction Costs: NPS has posted a projected construction contract of up to $49 million for the golf course overhaul.
• Private / Donor Fund-Raising Efforts: The broader redevelopment (designed by Fazio Golf Design) has relied partly on private fundraising efforts pursued by the administration, though specific total private contributions remain unverified or unclear.
The Triumphal Arch (Independence Arch)
• Federal Taxpayer Allocations: An Office of Management and Budget (OMB) spending plan for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) reserved $15 million specifically for the arch—consisting of $2 million in special initiative funds and $13 million in matching grants.
• Site Assessment Funding: Additional taxpayer money has covered preliminary groundwork, including a $500,000 environmental assessment contract.
• Private / Overrun Promises: While President Trump initially told donors the arch would be 100% privately funded or built using leftover private donations from the White House ballroom project, overall estimated costs for the structure range from $100 million to $250 million, leaving the remaining balance dependent on a mix of private pledges and public funds.
Democrats on the House Natural Resources Committee say the Trump administration has awarded contracts to begin work on President Donald Trump’s planned takeover of the East Potomac Golf Course in Washington.
