If your real estate investment strategy includes acquiring residential properties through LLCs or trusts, a new federal reporting rule may apply to your next transaction.

FinCEN’s residential real estate reporting rule took effect on March 1, 2026, introducing new reporting requirements for certain non-financed transfers of residential real property to legal entities and trusts.

While OFP's real estate and land use practice focuses on commercial transactions, many commercial real estate investors acquire residential assets as part of a broader portfolio strategy. Those transactions may now trigger reporting obligations depending on how the acquisition is structured.

In the carousel below, we highlight key aspects of the rule and what commercial real estate investors should keep in mind.

There’s a moment in every litigator’s career, usually around years 3-6, when things start to click.

You know how cases work.
You’ve logged the hours.
You’ve handled the assignments.
But now the question shifts from “Can I do this?” to “Who am I becoming as a lawyer ... and is this firm helping me get there?”

This stage isn’t about titles.

It’s about:
• Access to real responsibility
• Mentors who invest in your growth
• Courtroom and client experience
• A culture where collaboration matters more than hierarchy

At Odin Feldman Pittleman, litigation associates don’t sit on the sidelines. They’re part of strategy, part of client relationships, and part of building something lasting. After all, the next few years don’t just add lines to your résumé; they shape your trajectory.

If you’re a 3-6 year litigator thinking about what comes next, we should talk.

❄️ Snow day silver lining? A little time to catch up on the things that often get pushed aside.

Employment laws don’t slow down for winter weather — and staying current is one of the best ways employers can avoid costly surprises later. If today’s a quieter day for your team, it’s a great opportunity to revisit the basics: updating handbooks, reviewing policies, tracking wage-and-hour changes, and making sure managers know their responsibilities.

This guide outlines practical ways employers can build a system that stays current with changing employment laws.

In Reston and beyond, OFP’s employment attorneys help businesses stay informed, prepared, and protected — in every season.
