Unpopular opinion: Your first house doesn’t have to be your forever house. It may be one that works for your life right now but that you know you will outgrow in the next 10 years. And that is OK.

Buying your first house is a practical move that will get you started on the road to building equity. This house will show you what you really need, what you really want (and don’t want), and get some homeowning experience under your belt. Plus, that equity you are building is going to help you get closer to that dream house.

Besides, do you know what the best way is to combat these constantly changing interest rates? Locking in the one you can afford. I’ve watched way too many people wait and end up priced out of the market.

So let’s chat. Let’s discuss where you’d like to put down some roots for the next 5-10 years. Let’s talk about your must haves list vs. your ideal list. Let’s get real about getting you into a home while the window of opportunity is still open.

🛑Don’t keep playing the waiting game until you miss your window of opportunity.

Buying a home isn’t about waiting for the right moment. It’s a process. It’s about getting a payment you can afford so you have stability and build wealth for your future.

You could start working towards getting that payment today or you can watch your rent go up every year when you renew your lease.

If you’re ready to choose stability, DM me. I’m happy to help you explore your options.

In 2018, my parents, my sister, and friends lost their homes to the Camp Fire that destroyed the town I grew up in. Watching the fast moving Bug Fire and Hawk Fire threaten the homes of so many of my friends here in Northern Nevada was just gut wrenching.

Today, with the last of the evacuations lifted, there are 47 families that no longer have a home to go back to.

I’m so heartbroken for them. Every one of these homes had a story, much like the ones I share on my page. Whether it was your first home or last home, this kind of loss is not easy to recover from.

I can say from first-hand experience that trying to replace everything can be really overwhelming. Like you don’t even realize what you don’t have until you need it. If you can find it in your heart to donate something to one of the many drives around town, it will make a difference for someone. Even donating your time makes a difference.

A little kindness can go a long way. ❤️

I’ll start talking about Real Estate again next week- but this week I’ll be posting ways you can help our community in my stories.

Every day there’s a new article about the National housing market. Wanna know a secret? That’s not even a real thing.

The truth is, housing markets are much more nuanced than that. Northern Nevada has dozens of micro market segments. Each segment has its own unique pace, pricing strategy, and buyer. Neighborhoods are not one size fits all, and a National average isn’t going to give you the facts you need to make a local decision. Don’t let an article your cousin emailed you deter you from your goal of owning your dream home.

Want to know about the market? Let’s chat about what your ideal neighborhood looks like and what it will take to get you a home there. No fluff, just local knowledge and insight.
