The power has been restored in the Southern Pines office, and we are back up and running on our normal schedule. The phone lines are working as well. Thank you all for your patience. We hope that all of our clients now have power as well.

Unfortunately, the power in our Southern Pines location has still not yet been restored. Duke Energy indicated that, due to the complexity of the repairs, it may be another two days before the repairs are completed. We have made arrangements for Lisa to work from home and still assist clients in the meantime. I am also working in the Reidsville office and can assist clients in the Southern Pines area remotely. Please feel free to call the Reidsville office at 336-348-1241 until power in the Southern Pines location is restored, and please leave a message if there is no answer. We are working on returning all calls as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience, and please continue to pray for the good people in Moore County who are still without power in their homes. Our hearts are with our clients and friends in that area. We urge you to please check on your neighbors, particularly those who are elderly or disabled, or who may have limited means of transportation or communication due to the outage.

Unfortunately, our Southern Pines office has been impacted by the wide scale power outage, along with almost 40,000 other homes and businesses in the Moore County area. If you need assistance, please call our Reidsville office at 336-348-1241 until power is restored. A restoration time isn’t currently available. We are sending prayers to all of our neighbors in the effected area, and hope that everyone is in a safe, warm place in the meantime.

In February, consumer debt rose more than 40 billion dollars, a jump of more than 11 percent, the highest it’s been in two decades. As prices rise, more Americans are turning to their credit cards to get by, but experts caution it’s important to make sure your debt doesn’t get out of hand.

Have you heard that bankruptcy is REALLY bad? You are not alone. Most people don’t have an accurate idea of what bankruptcy really is. Most assume it will ruin your credit & that it is the worst thing you can do credit-wise. That’s not true. In fact, sometimes filing bankruptcy improves your credit score! By the time most people consider bankruptcy, their credit shows high balances, a history of late/missed payments, or foreclosures or repossessions. Once your debt is discharged in bankruptcy, and that debt is eliminated, your credit score may actually go up! Most people see higher credit scores within a year of receiving their bankruptcy discharge. According to a study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Chapter 7 debtors saw their credit scores increase by an average of 80 points within 6 months of filing bankruptcy. Chapter 13 debtors saw an average increase of 75 points. According to a study by FICO, within 4 years, 48% of people that filed bankruptcy had credit scores of 620 or higher. While every case is different, and while credit scores depend on a multiple of variables, these studies are helpful in showing that bankruptcy does not always have the devastating effect on one’s credit score that most people assume. Call us today for a free consultation. Let us help you wipe the slate clean so you can start living again!
