If you’ve recently moved, it’s a great time to take another look at your estate plan. Different states have different laws, and what worked perfectly before may not line up with the rules where you live now. Your new home might also mean new property to title correctly, new guardians to consider, or updated documents that reflect your current goals. A quick review can make sure everything still protects you the way it should. If you’re settling into a new place and want to be sure your plan is still on track, we’re here to help you get everything updated. Give us a call to schedule your initial consultation today.

When Benjamin Franklin passed away, he left a gift that kept working long after he was gone. His will directed money to Boston and Philadelphia with instructions to leave it invested for 200 years, and by the time it was distributed, it had grown into millions that funded scholarships and public projects. It’s a great reminder that thoughtful planning can make an impact far beyond your lifetime. You don’t need a 200-year plan to create a meaningful legacy—you just need a clear, well-crafted estate plan that reflects your values and your goals. If you’re ready to put your own legacy in motion, we’re here to help. Click the link in our bio to schedule an initial consultation today.

The most common estate planning mistake isn’t choosing the wrong document or picking the wrong executor—it’s not having a plan at all. So many people put it off because they think they’re too young, too busy, or don’t have “enough” assets, but that delay can create real problems for the people you love. An estate plan can make all the difference by giving clear instructions, avoiding court involvement, and protecting your wishes. You don’t need a complicated situation to benefit from planning ahead. If you’ve been meaning to get started, consider this your sign to finally check it off the list. Click the link in our bio to schedule an initial consultation today.

Did you know that leaving assets to your children outright can actually expose them to unnecessary risk? An inheritance given with no protections can be affected by divorce, disability, lawsuits, or creditor issues your children may face down the road. Instead of leaving their future to chance, you can build in safeguards that keep those assets protected no matter what life brings.

“Begin with the end in mind.” - Steven Covey

It’s simple advice, but it applies perfectly to estate planning. When you think ahead about how you want your assets handled, who you trust to make decisions, and the legacy you want to leave, everything else becomes clearer and easier. Planning now means your loved ones aren’t left guessing later, and your wishes are carried out exactly the way you intend. Estate planning is about visualizing how you wan things to end up and working backwards from there today so you can protect the people and the life you care about most. Ready to get started? A Power of Attorney is an important part of an estate plan, but it’s not enough on its own when it comes to truly planning for incapacity. If you begin making choices that aren’t in your best interest, simply naming an agent under a Power of Attorney doesn’t take away your legal ability to act. That’s why relying on this document alone can leave major gaps. If your Power of Attorney doesn’t authorize your agent to create a trust for you, the only way to step in may be through a full guardianship or conservatorship proceeding.

A Revocable Living Trust can prevent that. By creating one while you’re still of sound mind and naming a trustee, you ensure continuous, seamless management of your assets if you ever become unable to handle things yourself. It supports you during your lifetime, protects your beneficiaries after you’re gone, and eliminates the need for expensive, time-consuming court involvement.
Make sure your plan covers every angle. Click the link in our bio to get started.

True or false: “I don’t need an estate plan because my spouse will automatically get everything I own.” False!

Jointly owned assets may pass to your spouse, but that doesn’t mean they’re protected. If your spouse passes away and you’re later sued, those assets can still be taken to satisfy a judgment. And if your spouse remarries, those joint accounts become theirs alone, which means they can use them without honoring your wishes for your children.

A solid estate plan lets couples decide together how joint property and accounts should be handled, making sure the surviving spouse is cared for and the remaining assets are passed on according to both partners’ intentions. Ready to get started creating a plan that works for you and your spouse? Give us a call to schedule your initial consultation today.
