King, Moench & Collins LLP is proud to sponsor this year's Holmdel America 250 celebration.

This year's event is especially meaningful because all proceeds will benefit the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Memorial Fund, an organization that honors the life and legacy of U.S. Army Lieutenant Dennis W. Zilinski II, a Monmouth County native who was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Memorial Fund provides vital support to wounded warriors and their families while also awarding scholarships to local high school students who exemplify Lt. Zilinski's leadership, character, and commitment to service.

We are honored to support an event that celebrates our nation's history while giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and our community.

Can a municipality condemn private property for open space preservation? Yes—but the New Jersey Supreme Court has made clear that there are important constitutional limits on how that authority may be exercised.

In a recent unanimous decision, the Court reaffirmed municipalities' long-standing power to acquire land for open space while holding that property cannot be condemned solely to facilitate a "land swap" with a private developer.

The ruling provides important guidance for municipalities, developers, and property owners throughout New Jersey—and reinforces the need for transparency when exercising the power of eminent domain.

Read our latest Client Alert by Partner Michael L. Collins to learn what this decision means and how it may affect future land use and condemnation matters.

King, Moench & Collins LLP was proud to spend Saturday connecting with members of the local community at Freehold Township Day. As a sponsor of this year's event, we were honored to support a day dedicated to bringing the community together.

Freehold Township Attorney and Partner Andrew J. Ball, pictured with Partner Michael L. Collins, enjoyed meeting residents, business owners, and fellow professionals while sharing more about our firm and the legal services we provide.

As Township Attorney, Andy is proud to serve the Township of Freehold, and events like these provide a meaningful opportunity to connect with the residents and businesses that make the community so strong.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table - we appreciated the conversations and look forward to seeing you again soon.
