From 300 Turkeys to 4,500 — A Tradition of Giving Back!
It all started with one idea, one generous heart, and 300 turkeys.
Did you know that Turkeys for the Triangle was inspired by the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown?
Years ago, CBHPW founder Don Walston was driving in his car when he heard a story on the radio about James Brown's tradition of giving turkeys to families in need in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Inspired by that simple act of generosity, Don decided he could do something similar right here in the Triangle.
He started by making a personal donation and encouraging friends to join him. That first year, 300 turkeys were distributed to local families in need.
From a simple idea to help neighbors in need, Turkeys for the Triangle has grown into a lasting tradition of community support. Today, through the HPW Foundation and the generosity of our agents, employees, and supporters, Turkeys for the Triangle continues to bring Thanksgiving meals to families throughout our communities.
This year, we're preparing to distribute an incredible 4,500 turkeys on November 19! Visit turkeysforthetriangle.com to help support!
