Today, I received a call to return to a hospice facility where I had notarized an amendment document for a patient two weeks ago. This visit felt much different. The atmosphere was solemn, and it served as a reminder that every notarization carries its own unique circumstances.

As notaries, we are often invited into some of the most significant moments in people’s lives. Whether the occasion is joyful, stressful, or deeply emotional, it is our responsibility to remain professional, compassionate, and adaptable to the environment around us.

Today’s appointment reminded me that being a notary is about more than verifying signatures and identities. It is also about serving others with dignity, respect, and sensitivity during moments that matter most.

Today, I am celebrating my 3rd Anniversary as a Notary Public in North Carolina. What began as a desire to serve my community has grown into a rewarding business that has allowed me to meet and assist so many wonderful people.

This milestone would not have been possible without the support, encouragement, and guidance of those who believed in me along the way. A special thank you to Belinda, whose coaching, mentorship, and dedication to the notary profession have been a significant part of my journey. Hospice Home Care notarizations are a powerful reminder of why estate planning documents should be completed before a medical crisis happens.

MJ’s Mobile Notary Services completed a hospice notarization this evening which included estate planning documents and other critical paperwork.

Hospice notarizations are emotional and sensitive, but they are some of the most meaningful appointments I handle. Before leaving, I shared kind words with the patient, and his daughter in-law and she thanked me for my patience’s.

This is Ministry for me and it means so much more than a signature and a stamp it’s about compassion, professionalism, and being there when families most need support. “Matthew 25: 35-40 “ For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcome me. I was naked and you cloth me. I was sick and you visit me.”

Over the weekend, TLH Notary Services and MJ’s Mobile Notary, Apostille and Document Services LLC assisted with an emergency hospital notarization at UNC REX Healthcare. During this appointment, I served as a witness for the signing, which reminded me that being a witness is just as important as being the Notary notarizing the documents.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of why Wills, Powers of Attorney, Healthcare Directives, Advance Directives, and other estate planning documents should be completed, notarized, and properly executed before a medical emergency occurs.

Many of these important documents require witnesses who are not related to the signer, and having trusted professionals available during critical moments can make all the difference for families already facing emotional circumstances.

Hospital notarizations are never easy. They require compassion, patience, professionalism, and sensitivity while families navigate difficult situations. Although these appointments can be emotionally heavy, they are some of the most meaningful services we provide.

This experience truly touched my heart. It reminded me that our work is bigger than signatures, seals, and stamps. It is about being present, offering support, and helping families through some of life’s most challenging moments with care and dignity.
