Sometimes just being in the right room makes a difference! 💙

Yesterday, I attended the City of Raleigh Small Business Summit (BEOP). Although prior commitments caused me to arrive late and miss the panel discussions, I still had the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet some great people.

One thing I’ve learned on my entrepreneurial journey is that showing up, building relationships, and staying connected are all part of growing a business.

Grateful for every opportunity to connect, learn, and keep building.

Sometimes an idea starts with simply being willing to walk into the room and have the conversation. 💙

I recently had the opportunity to meet with a couple of members from the City of Raleigh team to discuss an idea that has been on my heart for some time now, creating stronger workforce and more hiring pathways within our communities.

We talked about connecting residents to employment, engaging businesses to hire, creating opportunities for the youth and people who may need a second chance, and helping individuals develop the skills they need to become successful in today’s workforce.

As a former educator turned entrepreneur and workforce advocate, this work is personal for me. I’ve seen what can happen when someone is given information, exposure, encouragement and most importantly, an opportunity.

I’m learning that building something meaningful doesn’t happen overnight. It starts with conversations, relationships, listening, and being willing to keep showing up.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring my ideas to the table and excited to see where the conversations lead.

The teacher in me never left. My classroom just keeps getting bigger. 💙

Construct with Confidence Academy kicked off again and I’m excited about what’s ahead.

Out of 15 spots available, 10 registered participants joined us LIVE on Zoom for our CWCA Introduction Class. The engagement was strong, the questions kept coming, and the participants stayed interested from beginning to end.

That told me something important: people are looking for clear information, guidance, and real pathways into the construction industry.

This introduction class is only the beginning. CWCA was created to help individuals understand where they may fit in construction, what employers are looking for, and how to prepare for the next step.

Next up: the 4-week Construct with Confidence Academy.

We’re building confidence, creating pathways, and helping people see what’s possible.

Sharing ideas, building relationships, and talking about something I truly care about, our youth. 💙

I enjoyed participating in the NC Statewide Partner Forum for Youth Service America and brainstorming ways to get more young people involved in leadership and connected to opportunities.

Thank you, Erinn Foote, MPA , you do so much to make this program successful and it was a pleasure meeting you Cristina España you have a committed role as well.

The teacher in me never left. 😊 I may not be in the classroom anymore, but I’m still going to show up wherever I can to help create opportunities for our young people.

Attended the Wake Reentry Resource Exchange today, what an impactful event.

Shanae M A. , your opening was on point. Kerwin Pittman , your moderation was exceptional, you really pulled out authentic, powerful stories from the speakers. Hearing real testimonies and solutions around reducing recidivism was meaningful and needed. Thank you First Lady of NC Anna Stein for your compassion.

Huge thank you to Coach Warrick Taylor with Empact Tennis for sponsoring Principle Lead Solutions, LLC and pouring into the ladies at our tennis social. It was more than just learning the game, it was about leadership, confidence and knowing how to show up for yourself and score in everything you do.
You could feel the energy on the court. The ladies left asking “when’s the next lesson “😁.

Our Board of Directors meeting/celebration was a win. We welcomed a new country and new members.

We are the peacemakers between exchange which focuses on culture, youth and education, business and trade and community development.

Ever since I stepped out of the classroom as a high school business teacher, I’ve continued my passion for developing young leaders through DECA. DECA plays a major role in preparing high school students with the employability and career-readiness skills they need to succeed.

This year marks my third year serving as a DECA judge, and it’s always an honor to support the next generation of innovators and professionals.
