Today, November 7, is Notary Public Day!
The first Notary Public Day was on November 7, 1975. November 7 is Notary Public Day in recognition of when America's first notary, Thomas Fugill, was appointed.
This day recognizes notaries for their public service and national and international commerce contributions. The normal functions of our everyday lives would not be possible without the skill and attention to detail of a notary public.
Notaries have recorded matters of judicial and commercial importance and private transactions since ancient Romans. Today, there are nearly 4.8 million notary publics in the United States alone.
Notary publics are indispensable to the free flow of commerce and the many susceptible personal transactions that transpire daily. Notary publics help deter fraud, promote integrity, and make reliable document transactions as impartial witnesses. They accomplish their duties by positively confirming a signer's identity while assessing their comprehension, competence, and willingness to sign said document.
Give thanks to a notary public in your life!
