ILLINOIS “FAIR” TAX IS NOT

BEWARE!! You are not voting on a revised tax law which would require wealthy people to pay more tax!
The proposal is to amend (permanently change) the Illinois Constitution. Currently Sec 3 of Article IX of the Constitution states, “A tax....shall be at a non-graduated rate (flat tax)...there shall be no more than ONE such tax imposed by the State for State purposes on individuals and ONE such tax imposed on corporations.”
The amendment proposes to DELETE these two sentences. This would give the legislature the power to increase taxes on any and all groups of taxpayers WITH NO LIMITS 😲. Taxes could be raised on low and middle income tax payers, small businesses and family farmers as well with no limits. Additional types of taxes based on income could be assessed because the wording “one such tax” would be eliminated.

SENIORS BEWARE! This opens the ability of the State of Illinois to tax your pensions, retirement distributions and Social Security benefits.

This amendment would give Legistlators of Illinois a blank check with no spending control or accountability. When you hear the word “fair” in this case .....VOTE NO!
