Lee Chabin, Esq. Mediation Services and Collaborative Law

Lee Chabin, Esq. Mediation Services and Collaborative Law I work with people in conflict, helping them to better listen to and understand one another, and to resolve - or at least manage - disputes constructively

Divorce Mediation and Collaborative Divorce are two different voluntary settlement processes. Each will keep you out of court, and each will cover the following issues:

• parenting;
• child support;
• spousal maintenance (alimony); and
• dividing assets and liabilities. In divorce mediation, the partners/spouses sit in the same room with a trained and neutral professional, the media

tor. The mediator assists the parties in reaching their own agreements. Collaborative divorce is another way to end a marriage respectfully and without litigation. Like mediation, it is a settlement process where all issues are addressed. However, with a collaborative divorce, you and your spouse each have an attorney representing you. All four parties (the spouses and their lawyers) agree in writing not to go to court.

Reminder: Free talk for : The different ways to , and the impact on families. NYC. Wednesday November 30th at 6:30pm.

Lynne Beldegreen, who is hosting the event was kind enough to say:

Colleagues,

I will be hosting a free small lecture with Q&A re divorce and mediation. The talk will be given by Lee Chabin, Esq. I have had several divorce cases lately (child as primary patient) where the parents are really in need of help separating, are at a standstill with the legal system, are handing their child off to the other parent at the police precinct and are asking me for advice beyond their child’s well being. After consulting with Lee, I feel really much more prepared to suggest options. Lee thinks like a therapist and is very appropriately responsive to psychodynamics. He is interested in giving a free talk to any therapists that want to learn about the various options that exist for people that are ending their marriage. Lee’s description of the talk:

Getting Separated or Divorced is one of the hardest experiences a person can have. Did you know that there are different ways to do it? And that each comes with its own consequences?

Different ways to divorce:
· Hiring attorneys and going to court
· Collaborative law ( where each spouse has an attorney but the parties do not go to court);
· Mediation (A mediator works with both partners/spouses, not representing either of them.)

I highly recommend attending this talk if it pertains to your work. I will be providing soft drinks, wine, and light food. Please join us!! And PLEASE rsvp if you plan to, thanks!

Wednesday November 30th at 6:30pm, address below. It is the first building on the NW corner of 86th and Central Park West.
