I have been receiving calls from teachers, school counselors, etc., worried because students have expressed fear about their parents being deported while they are at school. I have also received concerned calls from individuals who are worried about their neighbors and friends.
I am grateful for the teachers, clergy, neighbors, doctors, and other professionals and individuals who are looking out for the immigrants who are the backbone of our community.
Be kind to each other, reserve judgment, treat others with respect and dignity, and realize that our nation is stronger because of immigrants--past and present.
For the past thirty years, I have worked with immigrants. They are some of the hardest-working individuals. People are quick to judge the immigrant community despite not knowing their stories and backgrounds. Do not assume that all immigrants are illegal or criminals.
I hope these flyers can help anyone with similar concerns. Please feel free to download these and share them. The flyers are in the following languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, Haitian, and Punjabi.
