Medical studies have connected Olympus reusable endoscopes to severe patient infections, including sepsis, organ failure, and drug-resistant superbug infections, even when the devices were cleaned according to Olympus’s instructions. Current lawsuits claim Olympus did not provide sufficient cleaning guidance and that the scope design itself may prevent proper disinfection.
You may be eligible for compensation if you underwent a diagnostic scope procedure since 2015 and developed any of the following within 30 days:
- Hospitalization due to an infection requiring IV antibiotics
- A diagnosis of sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, or organ failure
- A superbug infection such as CRE, MRSA, or similar
- A formal exposure notice following the procedure
This does not apply to procedures involving orthoscopes, ureteroscopes, or cystoscopes.
