What you post on social media can impact the outcome of a family law matter.

It is a good idea to review your privacy settings. Limit who can see your posts, comments, stories, reels and pictures. Keep in mind that while tightening up your privacy settings can help, this does not guarantee that spouse/former partner will not still find a way to access this information through a friend, relative, or co-worker.

To those 1000+ brave souls who ran with us in the 10K James Joyce Ramble, may good be at you! The tweed-coated actors away with the fairies, reading fierce from Ulysses, Finnegan’s Wake, Dubliners, et al., a special thanks to you! “To live, to err, to fall, to triumph, to recreate life out of life. A wild angel appeared to him, the angel of mortal youth and beauty, an envoy from the fair courts of life, to throw open before him in an instant of ecstasy the gates of all the ways of error and glory. On and on and on and on!” ~ James Joyce, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.

Estate Planning Tips and Tricks: Dealing with Disputes

The most common dispute that leads to or is a will contest. While one hopes that families will come together during periods of grief, disputes over wills and estate plans are fairly common.

With my help, these probate disputes can often be resolved by delicately working out an agreement between the heirs. I will take the time to do a comprehensive review of all matters pertaining to the estate. I will speak with all involved parties, review all documents and create a thoughtful and thorough plan to move forward.

While it is everyone’s preference to resolve probate and estate issues outside of the courtroom, I am a skilled and experienced litigator and will be prepared to bring the case to trial if necessary.

Call me at 401-861-2100 or text 401-203-5105 to discuss your case.

The RISD Museum is the perfect place to escape the spring rain 🌧️

At least once a year I make it a point to visit the sixth floor here, and sit for a while with the ancient Buddha. All at once the Buddha is masculine, feminine, childlike, ancient, living, and still.

I've been coming here since I was a senior at Classical High School, after I read Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha for the first time. I’ve since read Siddhartha about six times, and have experienced it differently each time.

No matter how much time passes, the Buddha here remains unchanged, and seems to come to life before my eyes.

Don’t get fooled this April!

I’ve practiced family law for nearly 25 years, and I’ve seen countless clients get tricked by the complexities of the legal system. If you’re going through a divorce, follow these tips and tricks to avoid getting duped.

✅ Don’t let hurt feelings interfere with your finances. In the long run, being malicious or spiteful could impact your bottom line.

✅ Be aware of hidden tax obligations that could leave you vulnerable in the wake of a divorce. Gains in the value of real estate, stocks, or bonds could end up costing you.

✅ Understand your biggest assets in the long run. When dividing assets, the court will consider BOTH current AND future value.

✅ Don’t forget the debts. The debts get divided in divorce too. Be mindful about mortgages, car loans, joint debts such as credit cards and lines of credit.

✅ Evaluate what assets are truly important to you and be prepared to let the rest go. Carefully and mindfully consider what is vital, and don’t waste your time or money fighting for assets you don’t consider valuable.

Call me at 401-861-2100 or text 401-203-5105 for help navigating your divorce.

The Avon Cinema has been a cornerstone of the film community in Rhode Island since 1938, and I never get tired of catching a flick at this Thayer Street staple. During the school year, this neighborhood is buzzing with all the energy of a bustling college campus.

This week, I found time for an evening showing of "The Taste of Things," which I highly recommend to all! I feel incredibly fortunate to live and work on the East Side of Providence and treasure all of the memories I've created and continue to make in this wonderful community.
