Beginning on March 20, 2020, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Gibson County Circuit and Superior Courts will be limiting hearings to those that are statutorily required to protect people's substantive Constitutional rights, as authorized by the Indiana Supreme Court.

Hearings such as status hearings, pretrials, juvenile and CHINS review hearings, and trials will be postponed until after May 1, 2020.

Our office will be making contact with you to inform you as to your new date. We would also be happy to set up a phone conference to answer any specific questions or concerns you have regarding this Order.

The Indiana Supreme Court's Emergency Order is attached and provides additional information.

In a few short hours, you can travel across state lines and legally purchase ma*****na in Illinois.

This article gives some guidance on what is and isn’t allowed once you legally purchase ma*****na. Importantly, public consumption in Illinois is illegal.

Even if you purchase it legally in Illinois, it is still illegal to possess in Indiana. Don’t drive under the influence under any circumstances. Having metabolites in your system is currently a per se OWI/DUI in Indiana, so take care driving home even if you are not experiencing the effects of ma*****na.

You can debate the harm caused by ma*****na versus legal substances like alcohol and prescribed opiates (and probably aren’t wrong), but the bottom line is you can’t have it in Indiana and you can’t drive with the metabolite in your system.

If you are charged with Possession if Ma*****na or OWI as the result of a trip to Illinois, call us and let us defend you.

We need to do more to prepare those who serve their debt to society to lead positive and productive lives when they come home. This article provides a path to do so.

It costs far less to educate someone than to incarcerate them and produces better outcomes.

Unfortunately, I have to turn down calls from my incarcerated clients in lieu of visiting the jail in person. It would certainly be more convenient to chat on the phone, but most jails do not provide unrecorded lines.

In New Orleans, every call to a cellphone from the parish jail is taped, and prosecutors can listen in.
