A message for my friends in Kentucky Republican Party who are attacking me on social media for occasionally protecting the constitutional rights of those charged with crimes.( Most of my practice is disability representation- there is Big Conn documentary on Apple TV that talks about it).

Definition of hypocrisy
Hypocrisy is the behavior of saying one thing and doing another, or pretending to have moral standards and good qualities that you do not really possess. It means judging or blaming others for actions that you do yourself.

More than a thousand rioting individuals violently attacked police officers on January 6th were criminally prosecuted.
They were all pardoned- even the violent ones who either plead guilty or were convicted.

Is it hypocritical to criticize me for protecting the constitutional rights of criminal defendants when my 88 year old opponent Hal Rogers voted in committee to pay the January 6th rioters almost 1.8 billion dollars of taxpayer monies?

I would have voted not to pay them. What says the Kentucky Republican Party about their candidate voting to pay them the 1.8 billion?

Last night the Knott Board of Education was once again talking about closing the Cordia High School.
If they close it the students would have to take 45 minute bus rides on windy mountain roads to Hindman.
A friendly reminder to the Knott Board of Education.
There is a permanent injunction in place that prevents the closing of the school due to it's status as a historic settlement school.

Received notification will be allowed to appear on KET to discuss congressional candidacy on October 26th. The date 88 year old Hal Rogers will appear is never.
Assuming he doesn't want to discuss his vote to defund public television and public radio. In fact Rogers doesn't want to discuss anything.
Not made a public appearance since February.

If you were in Knott Circuit Court today you would have seen me representing a widow whose home was being foreclosed on and asking to be sold because she didn't realize that the previous owner had not paid 930 dollars in taxes.
One of the vulture tax collection companies swooped in and paid the taxes and now is asking for my client to pay about 14 thousand to keep her house. The Knott Circuit Judge used the word "shocking" during the hearing.
These lawsuits are not uncommon here in Appalachia. Unfortunately many of our low income neighbors are the subject of similar claims and too often either can't afford or simply don't get legal representation to fight the vultures.
