As our PennDOT workers  as well as municipal Township workers are out fixing our roads, please be respectful and pass, slow slowly and safely.  You can’t complain about the roads and also be impatient when passing a crew on the roads trying to make them better. Our road workers deserve to go home safe every night free from injury or fatality. 🫶🏻

The community needs to be aware of the following: Pennsylvania's "Paul Miller's" law which takes effect June 6th, 2026, one year after the bill was signed into law.

Drivers who violate the law will be issued a $50 fine plus court costs on the first offense, with penalties increasing for subsequent violations.

The law was named after Paul Miller, Jr., a 21-year-old who was killed by a distracted commercial truck driver in 2010. The law aims to reduce distracted driving by banning drivers from holding or using any handheld devices while operating a vehicle, including being stopped at traffic lights.

The law prohibits the following: holding the phone while talking, texting, sending emails, taking pictures, using apps, or browsing the internet. Law enforcement agency will be citing the following section for violations: www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM&ttl=75&div=0&chapter=33§ion=16&subsctn=1

According to pa.gov, a driver may use an interactive mobile device if the driver moves the vehicle to the side of or off a highway and halts in a location where the vehicle can safely remain stationary. The hands-free law allows for an emergency use exception if it is necessary to communicate with a law enforcement official or other emergency service to prevent injury to persons or property.

Help prevent an accident or tragedy, put your phone down while driving.

Well Well Well!! Looks like Miss Journey got busted laying in the Master bed. Mind you, they each have their own bed in the bedroom, but I guess she decided her’s was not comfortable enough.

Did you know that PennDOT offers a Retired Status Registration?

Check to see if you qualify. 

•Must be retired and receiving Social Security, SSI payments, retirement benefits, or other pensions and annuities.

•Have a total gross income of $30,778 or less from all sources, including business, rental, wages, interest, dividends, capital gains, public assistance, and unemployment compensation.

•Be the principal driver of the vehicle unless physically or mentally incapable of driving.

•Own a vehicle with a registered gross weight of 9,000 lbs. or less.

•Only one vehicle per qualified applicant may be registered at the reduced $10 processing fee

Remember the reason for Memorial Day. This weekend, and everyday, we honor members of the Military who have given their life in battle. Some were lost in the killing sands of Iraq or the mountains of Afghanistan. Some are members of older generations where blood was spilt and our men and women died during World War II, Korea or Vietnam.
And there are others who took their lives during the continued mental health battles here at home. So, during this weekend while you are grilling or enjoying your time with family and friends, Remember them all!
