Yesterday, at approximately 10:25 pm, the Coos County Attorney's Office entered Notices of Nolle Prosequi (dismissal) on all charges against Becker Legal clients Courtney McLain and Melinda "Min" Kennett, citing insufficient evidence for prosecution. The dismissal of these 44 combined charges came mere hours before the parties were to appear for a final pretrial to schedule a trial in these matters.

This decision follows a November 2025 jury trial in which a mistrial was declared after the state's investigator gave non-responsive and inadmissible testimony.

From the onset, we have felt that the evidence in this matter not only failed to establish guilt but also spoke to the innocence of the Defendants.

The State’s insistence on the 2024 arrest of Ms. McLain mere days prior to a town election in which she was running for town clerk, while simultaneously not insisting on the immediate arrest of her codefendant raised concerns of intentional election interference.

We congratulate Ms. McLain and Ms. Kennett on their long-awaited vindication in this matter.
