The Appointment Information System (AIS) is a streamlined platform currently used for scheduling nonimmigrant visa (NIV) interviews. While user-friendly, it requires careful profile management to avoid MRV fee loss, duplicate account lockouts, or interview-day issues.
AIS allows applicants to view appointment availability before paying the MRV fee. Availability is live and may reflect isolated cancellations rather than consistent openings. The MRV fee is valid for one year and is permanently tied to the profile used at payment, making accuracy at the outset critical.
Applicants should create one profile per applicant, using passport data exactly as listed on the biographic page. Please avoid duplicate profiles.
When adding dependents, use the “+ New Group” feature instead of creating separate accounts.
AIS allows three reschedules per MRV fee (only confirmed changes count).
DS-160 management is essential. If a new DS-160 is submitted, the confirmation number must be updated in AIS. Failure to update can result in denial of entry.

USCIS has announced the initial registration period for the FY 2027 H-1B cap, which will open at noon (ET) on March 4, 2026, and close at noon (ET) on March 19, 2026. Employers must submit electronic registrations through a USCIS online account and pay the required $215 registration fee per beneficiary. Notably, the FY 2027 cap season introduces a revised selection methodology that prioritizes higher-skilled and higher-paid beneficiaries. Selection notifications are expected by April 1st, 2026. Employers and prospective applicants are encouraged to begin planning early in light of these new changes.

As of Oct. 28, USCIS shifted to electronic payments only for all paper-filed forms—streamlining processing, reducing delays, and improving security. Applicants can pay by card or ACH and are encouraged to file online for the smoothest experience. Limited exemptions still apply. See Form G-1450 for more information.

While stakeholders may experience some delays as operations return to normal, we are here to support and guide our H-1B, H-2B and PERM clients through the process every step of the way.

One month after President Trump unveiled the new $100,000 H-1B application fee, USCIS has finally released payment instructions and clarified exemptions, including for some F-1 student visa holders. Applicants must now submit proof of payment through the official portal when applying. The agency says the update presumably supports the ongoing H-1B program reforms.

What employers should know in case of a worksite ICE raid:

- If ICE agents arrive at your workplace, remain calm and pay close attention to what is happening. Try to remember names and details of the encounter.

- Immediately contact your company’s designated representative. Politely request the agent’s business card and es**rt them away from the main work area, ensuring they are never left alone.

- If an ICE agent asks to access private areas of the facility, you may respond with: “We do not consent to access of the private premises of our facility, and we ask that you speak to our legal counsel. I choose to remain silent on further questions.”

- Assign a team member to document the interaction by recording a video (it is legal to film as long as you are not interfering with the agent’s lawful activities).

Throughout the encounter, remain polite, professional, and silent while waiting for your representative or legal counsel to arrive.

Immigration Update: On September 19, 2025, the President issued a proclamation restricting entry of certain H-1B workers. Effective September 21, 2025, all new H-1B petitions must include a $100,000 payment to qualify, even cap-exempt organizations. This rule does not affect current H-1B visa holders, beneficiaries of approved petitions, or petitions filed before the effective date. Travel rights for valid H-1B holders remain unchanged.

Starting October 1, 2025, United States will introduce a $250 “visa integrity fee,” raising the total cost of a visitor visa to $442 (among the highest globally). Analysts caution that higher costs and stricter policies may reduce U.S. competitiveness as a destination, with industry leaders warning the fee could further discourage travel from key markets including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, India, and China.

If you have H-1B employees or are an H-1B status holder yourself, you might want to note these important timelines:

- H-1B workers may enter the U.S. up to 10 days prior to their approved start date but cannot work during that time.

- After the H-1B validity period, there's another 10-day grace period that allows individuals to prepare for departure—again, no employment is allowed during that time.

- If an H-1B employee is terminated before the expiration of their status, they may remain in the U.S. for up to 60 days to find a new employer (and "port" to the new employer), change status, or depart.

Understanding these timeframes is crucial to maintaining lawful U.S. status.
